Notifications

Hear about what needs you, and little else

Taskeni notifies you about four things: tasks assigned to you, mentions, comments on tasks you follow, and deadlines. You choose which of them reach you, and whether by push, by email as they happen, or in one digest each morning.

Four kinds, each optional

Assignments, mentions, comments on followed tasks, and deadlines.

Daily digest at 8:00

One email with what's overdue, due today, and unread, in your time zone.

Push notifications

In the browser or the installed app, even when Taskeni is in the background.

No double alerts

Per-notification emails are skipped if you've already read it in the app.

Only the notifications you asked for

Settings → Notifications has a switch for each kind. Following happens automatically when you comment on a task or get assigned to it, so you hear about the conversations you're part of without following everything.

  • **Assignments:** someone assigns you a task.
  • **Mentions:** someone types your name in a comment.
  • **Comments on tasks I follow.**
  • **Deadlines:** on the day a task assigned to you is due, plus any reminder set on the task.

Email on your terms

Pick one of three email settings: a daily digest at 8:00 in your own time zone (the default), every notification, or off. The digest lists what's overdue, what's due today, and notifications you haven't read, and it isn't sent on days with nothing to report. Per-notification emails wait two minutes and are skipped if you've read the notification in the app by then. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.

Push notifications and the app badge

Turn on desktop notifications and Taskeni sends a system notification when you're mentioned, assigned, or something is due, even when the tab is in the background. If you've installed Taskeni as an app, its icon shows your unread count.

One inbox inside the app

Every notification lands in the in-app inbox, linked to its task. Home adds the bigger picture: what's overdue, what's due this week, and how each board is moving.

Common questions

Can I turn off email completely?

Yes. Set Email me to Off in Settings → Notifications, or use the unsubscribe link in any notification email. Account emails such as password reset codes still arrive.

What time does the daily digest arrive?

At 8:00 in your personal time zone. If nothing is overdue, due, or unread, no digest is sent.

Do push notifications work on iPhone?

Yes, when Taskeni is installed to the Home Screen from Safari and notifications are allowed. Native iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps with push notifications are coming soon.

Can I get notifications in Slack instead?

Taskeni can post board updates (new tasks, moves, completions, and comments) to a Slack channel. See integrations.

How do reminders fit in?

Set a reminder on a task (on the due date, or one day, two days, or a week before) and it arrives as a deadline notification for the task's assignees. See planning.
