Taskeni vs ClickUp
Taskeni is a smaller, focused alternative to ClickUp for teams that want the task-management core without the docs, chat, and whiteboards around it. ClickUp covers more ground; Taskeni keeps fewer moving parts.
Where each one fits.
Choose Taskeni when
- You want boards, timelines, and time tracking, not a full workspace suite
- You want custom fields, Timeline, and time tracking on the free plan rather than as trials
- You prefer two paid plans with a fixed AI allowance over add-ons and higher tiers
- You want AI off until a workspace owner turns it on
- You want fewer settings for new teammates to learn
ClickUp may suit you when
- You want tasks, docs, chat, whiteboards, goals, and sprints in one app
- Your free plan needs unlimited members (Taskeni Free is up to 10)
- You use many view types, dashboards, or advanced reporting
- You want AI features like Super Agents, AI fields, and a notetaker inside the tool
- You need SAML, SCIM, audit logs, or HIPAA options on an enterprise plan
- You need native iOS and Android apps today
What stays the same
Boards, lists, and calendars; tasks with assignees, due dates, subtasks, checklists, dependencies, custom fields, and time tracking; comments with @mentions; recurring tasks; and an MCP server for AI assistants.

How to move from ClickUp to Taskeni
- 01
Map your Spaces to boards
Sign up and create one board for each ClickUp List or project you still work in. Recreate its statuses as lists and add the labels and custom fields you actually use. Taskeni doesn't connect to ClickUp directly, so this part is by hand.
- 02
Invite the team
Invite teammates by email before importing so assignees can be matched. Add clients and freelancers as guests to the boards they need.
- 03
Bring open tasks over with CSV
Export your tasks from ClickUp to a spreadsheet (which exports you can use depends on your ClickUp plan) and save it as CSV, then use Import CSV on the matching Taskeni board. Taskeni matches columns by name: Title (or Name or Task), List (or Status), Assignee or Assignee email, Start date, Due date, Labels (or Tags), Priority, and Description. You see what will be skipped before you confirm.
- 04
Rebuild what a spreadsheet can't carry
Add blocked-by links, estimates, recurring schedules, and checklists on the tasks that need them. Comments, docs, and time entries stay in ClickUp.
Common questions
Is Taskeni a good ClickUp alternative?
If your team uses ClickUp mainly for tasks, boards, timelines, and time tracking, Taskeni covers that core with fewer settings, and those features are on the free plan. If you also run docs, chat, whiteboards, and goals in ClickUp, Taskeni won't replace all of that.
Can I import from ClickUp?
Not directly. Export your tasks from ClickUp to a spreadsheet (the exports available depend on your ClickUp plan), save it as CSV, and use Import CSV on a Taskeni board. Titles, lists, assignees, dates, labels, priority, and descriptions come across when the column names match.
How much does ClickUp cost compared to Taskeni?
ClickUp has a free plan and paid plans from about $7–$9 per user/month billed yearly, with higher tiers and extra AI credits on top. Taskeni is free for up to 10 members with every view; Pro is $6 per member/month billed yearly, with a 14-day free trial, and Business is $12. See pricing.
How is AI charged in each?
Both meter AI in credits. ClickUp includes credits on every plan and sells more separately. Taskeni's AI is off until a workspace owner turns it on; Free includes 100 credits per workspace a month, Pro 300 and Business 1,000 per member a month, pooled.
Does Taskeni have docs or chat?
No. Taskeni is task management: tasks hold descriptions and comments in Markdown, files, and image feedback pins, and it connects to Slack for conversation.
