Taskeni vs Trello
Taskeni is a Trello alternative for teams that like working on boards and want more views and tracking without adding Power-Ups. Here is how the two compare.
Where each one fits.
Choose Taskeni when
- You plan launches and need Table, Calendar, and Timeline views without a Premium upgrade
- You track hours against estimates
- Work depends on other work and you want blocked-by links and subtasks
- You want custom fields and recurring tasks on the free plan
- You want to bring a Trello board over as it is and keep going
Trello may suit you when
- One personal board covers everything
- You rely on a specific Power-Up
- Your company already runs on Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence
- You want automation on the free plan: Trello's Butler includes 250 command runs a month, while Taskeni's automations are on Pro
- You need native iOS and Android apps today
What stays the same
Boards, lists, cards, labels, checklists, due dates, comments, and dragging work from one column to the next. If your team knows Trello, it already knows most of Taskeni.

How to move from Trello to Taskeni
- 01
Create your workspace
Sign up, name the workspace, and pick a board template or start blank.
- 02
Invite the team first
Invite teammates by email before you import. Taskeni matches Trello members to workspace members by email or full name, so cards keep their assignees.
- 03
Import each board
In Trello, open the board menu, choose Print, export and share, then Export as JSON. In Taskeni, go to Settings → Data → Import from Trello (or Import from Trello on the Boards page) and choose the file. Lists, cards, descriptions, checklists, labels, start and due dates come across; file attachments, comments, custom fields, Power-Ups, and archived lists stay in Trello.
- 04
Add what Trello didn't have
Set estimates, link blocked-by tasks, and open the Timeline to see the next few weeks. Add clients and freelancers as guests to the boards they need.
- 05
Keep Trello as your archive
Once the open work is moving in Taskeni, leave finished boards in Trello for reference.
Common questions
Is Taskeni a good Trello alternative for small teams?
If your team likes Trello boards but needs Table, Calendar, and Timeline views, time tracking, or subtasks and dependencies, Taskeni keeps the board workflow and adds those in the product itself, on the free plan. If one board and a couple of Power-Ups cover what you do, Trello may be all you need.
Can I import my Trello boards?
Yes, one board at a time. Export the board from Trello as JSON (board menu → Print, export and share → Export as JSON), then choose the file in Taskeni under Settings → Data → Import from Trello. Lists, cards, descriptions, checklists, labels, dates, and matched assignees come across. Attachments, comments, custom fields, and Power-Up data stay in Trello.
How much does Trello cost compared to Taskeni?
Trello Standard is $5 and Premium is $10 per user/month billed yearly; Table, Calendar, and Timeline views need Premium. Taskeni's Free plan includes every view for up to 10 members. Taskeni Pro ($6 per member/month billed yearly) adds automations, reports, and client share links, and comes with a 14-day free trial. See pricing.
Will my team need training?
Very little. Boards, lists, and cards behave the way they do in Trello: drag a card to move it, open it for details, tick items on a checklist.
Does Taskeni have something like Butler?
Automations are part of Taskeni Pro, which has a 14-day free trial. On the free plan, recurring tasks are built in, so you don't need a rule to recreate weekly work.
