How to move from Plane to Taskeni

  1. 01

    Create a board per project

Sign up and add a board for each Plane project you're moving. Recreate its states as lists and its labels. Taskeni doesn't connect to Plane directly, so this part is by hand.

  2. 02

    Invite the team

Invite teammates by email before importing so assignees can be matched, and add guests to the boards they need.

  3. 03

Bring open work items over with CSV

Export work items from Plane as CSV (which export options you have depends on your Plane plan), then use Import CSV on the matching Taskeni board. Taskeni matches columns by name: Title (or Name), List (or Status or State), Assignee or Assignee email, Start date, Due date, Labels, Priority, and Description. You see what will be skipped before you confirm.

  4. 04

    Add estimates and links

Set time estimates, link blocked-by tasks, and turn repeating work into recurring tasks.

Common questions

Is Taskeni a good Plane alternative?

If you want a hosted tool where custom fields, dependencies, time tracking, and recurring tasks are on the free plan, and your team includes non-engineers, yes. If you need to self-host, want open-source code, or work in cycles and modules, Plane fits better.

Can I import from Plane?

Not directly. Export work items from Plane as CSV and use Import CSV on a Taskeni board. Titles, states, assignees, dates, labels, priority, and descriptions come across when the column names match.

How much does Plane cost compared to Taskeni?

Plane Pro is $6 and Business is $13 per seat/month billed yearly, and its free plan allows 12 users. Taskeni Pro is also $6 per member/month billed yearly, with a 14-day free trial, but Taskeni's free plan already includes custom fields, dependencies, time tracking, and recurring tasks. See pricing.

Can I self-host Taskeni?

No. Taskeni is hosted only. Data is stored with Convex in the US region and served by Vercel; you can export workspace and personal data at any time. See security.
