Account and security
Two-step verification
Two-step verification means someone who learns your password still can't sign in without your phone.
Turn it on
- Go to Settings → Account → Two-step verification and click Set up authenticator app.
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app such as 1Password, Google Authenticator, or Authy. Or add an account in the app, choose to enter a setup key, and paste the Setup key. Use your email as the account name and pick time-based.
- Enter the 6-digit Code from the app and click Turn on.
- Save your ten backup codes. Click Download codes to keep them as a file.
Sign in with it
After your password, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. If you don't have your phone, enter one of your backup codes instead. Each backup code works once.
Get new backup codes
Click New backup codes in the same section. Your old codes stop working. The section shows how many codes you have left.
Turn it off
- Click Turn off.
- Enter a current code from your app and click Turn off.
Good to know
- Codes change every 30 seconds. If one doesn't work, enter the newest one and check that your phone's clock is set automatically.
- Keep your backup codes somewhere safe and separate from your phone.
- Two-step verification is included on every plan.
