Planning and time

Recurring tasks

Recurring tasks handle work that comes back on a schedule, like a weekly report or a monthly invoice run.

  1. Open the task and click Repeats (it says "Does not repeat").
  2. Under Repeats, choose Daily, Every weekday, Weekly on selected days, Monthly, or Custom interval.
  3. Fill in the details: the days of the week, the Day of the month, or Every with a number of days, weeks, or months.
  4. Set Starting and Time.
  5. Under Ends, choose Never ends, Ends on a date, or Ends after a number of occurrences.
  6. Check the upcoming dates in the preview, then click Add schedule.

You can also type a repeat in quick add, like "Send status update every friday". See Quick add syntax.

How occurrences work

Taskeni creates a separate task for each occurrence, about a week ahead. Each one has its own completion, comments, files, and activity. Comments and activity are never copied forward.

Change the schedule

  1. Open any occurrence and click Edit schedule in the note at the top.
  2. Change the rule and click Save schedule.
  3. From the same dialog you can Pause series (and later Resume series), Skip next occurrence, End series, or Detach this task so it no longer repeats.

Change one occurrence or all future ones

When you edit the date or details of an occurrence, Taskeni asks whether the change applies to This occurrence or This and future.

Good to know

  • Schedules run in the workspace time zone, shown at the bottom of the dialog.
  • If a monthly day doesn't exist in a month (like the 31st), that occurrence lands on the month's last day.
  • Ending a series keeps the occurrences that already exist, with their comments and history.
  • Completing, rescheduling, or deleting one occurrence doesn't change the rest.
  • In Calendar view, upcoming occurrences show with a dashed outline before they're created.
